Health benefits of Himalayan Pink Salt

This exquisite gourmet salt is mined by hand from ancient deposits, the remnants of long dead seas which dried up over 250 million years ago; seas free from pollution, the purity of which has been preserved in this unique tasty salt. It is unprocessed with no additives, so the sodium chloride crystals are in the most easily absorbable form.

Sodium is an essential electrolyte for the human body, without it many of the processes in our body stop working efficiently. It plays a part in nerve impulses and muscle contractions, which helps alleviate muscle cramps. It is a natural antihistamine and has anti-ageing properties. It also regulates the amount of water in your body which helps to:

  • Stay hydrated
  • Detoxify the body
  • Improve digestion
  • Boosts energy
  • Maintain healthy blood pressure
  • Maintain healthy blood sugar levels

The vast array of trace minerals in the salt crystals are all necessary to healthy living, and many people have diets which are deficient in essential minerals, making Himalayan Pink Salt a worthy addition to any kitchen.

Spa & Sauna

Spending time by the sea and inhaling the salty air is known to be beneficial to your health. In fact, scientific studies also show that the inhalation of salt particles helps to treat respiratory disorders such as asthma, allergies, bronchitis, sinus congestion and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Himalayan salt is also considered the world’s purest, rich with nutritious minerals and packed with negatively-charged ions which are said to help relieve stress and improve your mood.

So it is no surprise that wellbeing centres are increasingly approaching us to construct Himalayan salt walls for spas and saunas to enhance relaxation and provide added health benefits as well as creating a unique and beautiful feature.

Looking to jazz up your venue? Why not add illuminated Himalayan interior Salt bricks.

Interior Design

Salt walls are increasingly becoming a design choice in high-end establishments as interior designers opt for solutions that combine aesthetics with wellbeing. Walls of pink-red Himalayan salt bricks create a dramatic feature whether you are looking to establish a relaxing seating area in a restaurant or are opting for a different look for panelling, counters or bar fronts.

Our purpose-designed frames hold the wall in place and lighting can also be fixed to create a visually stunning effect. When illuminated, the pink and red tones of the Himalayan salt bricks generate a warming, ambient glow. The end result is a unique, captivating work of art, created with pure, natural elements.

You can see the effect at High Mood Food, one of our customers in Duke Street, London. The bar front in this health food café has been panelled with an amazing back-lit salt wall piece. It has created an attractive feature and a centre of interest within the venue’s design.

All we would need from you is the measurements of the room/s you wish to convert and we will take it from there.

Sole for the Soul

Sole (pronounced So-lay) is water with so much natural salt dissolved in it, that it is said to be saturated. This means that no more salt will dissolve in it (unless you raise the temperature of the water, which will allow more salt to dissolve). The term Sole, is derived from the Latin word”Sol” which means Sun. click here for more details

IMG_5753Once Sole has been made, it can be stored indefinately, and diluted for use as a drink for health and vitality, or for inhaltion to relieve sinus or respiratory problems, or to apply topically to abrasions or the eyes. Essentially it’s a non-toxic anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent that doubles up as a nutritional supplement (thanks to the high mineral content of Himalayan Pink Salt). The drinking of a salt solution has been used as a remedy for centuries, and is backed up by scientifically supported evidence, as well as anecdotal evidence (see “Science of Himalayan Pink Salt” for more info ) for the following uses:

Helps Hydration

Helps the Body Detoxify

Boosts Energy

Improving Digestion

Improving blood sugar

A Natural Anti-histamine

Helps with Muscle Cramps

Healthy Veins

Blood Pressure

Weight Loss

Healthy Skin, Hair and Nails

How to make Sole

1) Select a clean jar with a wooden or glass lid (preserving jars are good, and easily available). Fill

the jar about a quarter the way up, and fill the rest of the jar with water (preferably filtered or springwater), leaving about an inch gap at the top.

2) After 24 hours, check the Sole to see how much has dissolved. If all the rocks have dissolved,

then add some more and leave for another 24 hours. If there are rocks left, then your solution is ready.

Please note it is best to do this at room temperature, although using hot water will quicken the

process, it will also increase the saturation point of the water, and possibly alter the end result once it has cooled down.

3) For making Sole into a drink, take a teaspoon full and add it to a large glass of water (around 70cl), drink on an empty stomach, best in the morning, or when you first get up.

4) For all other uses, be it for inhalation or external use, make a 1-10% solution depending on your needs.

Make sure not to use metal implements with Sole, concentrated solutions of salt are highly reactive with metals (sea water is highly corrosive, for instance) and so may become contaminated if they come in to contact with them.
